At this popular resort, you can enjoy a relaxing soak in a garden-like setting
In the shadow of Costa Rica’s Arenal volcano, geothermal-heated waters bubble up to create natural hot springs. The nearby La Fortuna region is home to a number of spas and resorts where bathers come to relax and soak up therapeutic benefits from these mineral-rich waters.
The Tabacon Grand Spa Thermal Resort was the area’s first such property, and it is still considered the best. Here, no pumps or heaters are needed to create the flow, just gravity and nature’s own subterranean heat sources. Upwellings from five artisan springs, with temperatures ranging from 77 to 120 degrees, are channeled into a series of soaking and bathing pools that overlook a central stream and a series of small waterfalls.
The lushly landscaped resort grounds include an on-site restaurant, spa and overnight accommodations, and guests seeking even more heat and relaxation can visit the steam room or sauna.
