Bahamas

Spreading some 600 miles north to south and 200 miles east to west, the vast shoals, reefs and 700 islands of the Bahamas are a waterman’s playground and a beach lover’s dream.

Overview

High life or quiet life. The Bahamas offers both. The 5-star beachfront resorts of New Providence Island offer glittering casinos, gourmet dining, vibrant nightlife and luxury beachfront cabanas with bespoke services. Shoppers can scan for upscale bargains at duty-free shops or take home handmade mementos from a straw market. At the opposite end of the spectrum, the Out Islands offer boutique resorts and quaint guest houses set in charming coastal harbors on the sands of a deserted beach.

The Bahamas encompasses more coral reefs than the entire Caribbean, a fact that is not lost on scuba divers who consider this a must-do destination. The vast sandy shoals that lie between islands lure fishermen in search of world-class tarpon and bonefish action, while the blue depths of offshore waters are plied by sport fishermen in search of an angling battle with a trophy gamefish.
